Bushmills Single Malt Causeway Collection- Banyuls Cask Finish
Bushmills Single Malt Causeway Collection- Banyuls Cask Finish is part of the Causeway Collection launched in 2020. This was the first time in 15 years that Bushmills released whiskey at barrel strength, boosted by unique and unusual cask finishes. This 8 year old single malt is no exception. Initial maturation occurred in ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso sherry barrels. When the time was right, they whiskeys were married in select casks that previously held Banyuls wine, and held there for just over two and a half years. Banyuls is a wine district in the French Pyrenees which specialise in their own distinct red dessert wine. The wine is intense and tastefully reminiscent of aged port wine. Only 1500 bottles were ever produced. 53.2% Alc. vol.
Banyuls is a French appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC) for a fortified apéritif or dessert wine made from old vines cultivated in terraces on the slopes of the Catalan Pyrenees in the Roussillon county of France, bordering, to the south, the Empordà wine region in Catalonia in Spain.
