CROLLY QUERCUS ROBUR GIFT PACK

Nestled in Croithlí, County Donegal, between the rugged Wild Atlantic Coast and the dramatic Derryveagh Mountains — with the iconic Mount Errigal close by — Crolly Distillery is housed in a beautifully restored stone building dating back to 1902. The distillery proudly holds the distinction of being the first licensed whiskey distillery in Donegal since 1840.

Honouring local Gaeltacht distilling traditions, Crolly Distillery employs direct-fired pot stills and a double distillation process. Their stills, originally sourced from the Cognac region of France, have been carefully refurbished to produce an elegant, characterful spirit in Croithlí.

COILLÍN DARACH – Oak Series

The Coillín Darach (Oak Series) explores how different oak species influence flavour and character. This single malt Irish whiskey is initially matured in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in virgin oak casks, with each release focusing on a specific wood species commonly used in barrel making.

Quercus Robur, traditionally used for European oak sherry casks, is more porous and less sweet than Quercus Petraea or Quercus Alba. While the species grows throughout Europe, the oak used for this release comes from the highly prized Slavonian forests of Croatia, specifically Luznjak oak, renowned for its quality and flavour contribution.

Tasting Notes

• Colour: Pale straw

• Nose: Deep redcurrant fruit with rich winter spices, ginger, clove and nutmeg

• Palate: Full-bodied with layered fruit and warming spice

• Finish: Robust and dry, with notes of wood smoke and dark chocolate
